FAQ

An organizational consultant is a professional who provides expert advice and guidance to businesses and organizations to help them improve their performance and achieve their goals. Organizational consultants use a variety of tools and methods to analyse the organization, and provide recommendations for change and improvement.

Organizational consultants offer a wide range of services, including strategic planning, change management, process improvement, talent management, and organizational development. They work with businesses and organizations to identify areas for improvement, develop solutions, and implement changes to achieve their goals.

Working with an organizational consultant can yield multiple benefits, such as enhanced performance, increased efficiency, optimal resource utilization, improved employee morale, and a competitive edge. Organizational consultants bring a fresh perspective, objectivity and a wealth of experience to help businesses and organizations overcome challenges and achieve their goals.

An organizational consultant typically follows a structured approach to consulting projects. This usually involves the following steps: understanding the client’s goals and objectives, conducting a thorough analysis of the organization, developing recommendations and solutions, implementing changes, and monitoring and evaluating the results. The consultant works closely with the client throughout the project to ensure that the solutions are tailored to their specific needs and that they are able to achieve their goals.

Choosing the right organizational consultant for your business involves a few key steps. First, you should define your needs and goals, and then research and compare different consultants. Consider focusing on consultants who hold an academic degree in the field of organizational consulting and development. Search for a consultant with extensive hands-on experience, particularly in management, rather than solely in consulting, and ensure that they have a strong reputation based on feedback from previous clients or employers. Ask for references and have discussions with the consultant to ensure that you are comfortable working with them and that you believe they can help you achieve your goals.

The term ‘Success’ can be a bit tricky since success can vary greatly depending on a number of factors, such as the size and complexity of the organization, the type of change being implemented, the level of employee engagement, and the quality of leadership and communication. Some studies have found that a significant number of organizational change initiatives do not achieve their desired outcomes. Studies by McKinsey & Company; Towers Watson; Kotters and more, found that about 70% of change management initiatives fail to meet their goals, which presents an excellent reason to hire an organizational consultant.

Involving an organizational consultant in the change process can help increase the likelihood of success. Consultants bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the table, providing guidance and support in areas such as strategic planning, change management, and employee engagement. They can also provide a fresh perspective and help organizations overcome many challenges, which can increase the chances of successfully achieving desired outcomes.

Organizational consulting can attend to businesses of all sizes and work with a variety of industries. Any type of organization can benefit from organizational consulting, including startups, small businesses, non-profits, government agencies, and large corporations. Organizational consulting can help all organizations to face challenges related to growth, change, or improving performance.

If your organization is facing challenges related to growth, change, or improving performance, it may benefit from organizational consulting. Some signs that your organization may need consulting services include high turnover, low employee engagement, lack of clarity around roles and responsibilities, or difficulties adapting to change.

The areas of focus in a consulting engagement depend on the specific needs and goals of the business. During the initial assessment phase, an organizational consultant works closely with the business to identify areas of concern, set goals, prioritize them, and develop a plan to achieve them. However, it’s important to keep in mind that new issues, goals, and aims may arise during the consultation process which require adjustments to the plan.

The length of a consulting engagement will vary depending on the scope and complexity of the project. Some engagements may be short-term and focused on a specific issue, while others may be ongoing and involve a longer-term partnership between the consultant and the business.

The cost of organizational consulting will depend on the specific needs and goals of the business, as well as the scope and complexity of the project. Most consultants will provide a detailed proposal outlining the cost and scope of the project before any work is done.

There are several different ways that consultants may price a consulting project, including:

  • Pricing the entire project, which can be divided into different stages of the intervention.
  • Pricing by the hour or by sessions, for short-term counseling.
  • Charging a monthly retainer, for continuous guidance that lasts a few months or more.
  • Purchasing an hour bank for a project or service.

To begin an organizational consulting engagement, schedule an initial consultation with a consultant. During this meeting, you can discuss your business needs and goals, and the consultant can explain the consulting process and how they can help you achieve your objectives. Do not hesitate to contact me for a chat or to address any concerns you may have about your organization. Remember, the first meeting is on me! 😉

The success of a consulting engagement can be measured in a variety of ways, such as increased revenue, improved employee satisfaction, lower turnover, enhanced efficiency, or better customer satisfaction. During the engagement, the consultant will work with the business to set specific goals and metrics to track progress and success.

Definitely, I work with clients outside of Israel as well and can work with clients from anywhere in the world. In today’s digital age, working remotely is a viable option that can save time and travel expenses. However, some phases of a project, such as implementing a large-scale change, may require face-to-face meetings to achieve the best results. In those cases, I am available to travel to your location.

After the consulting engagement is complete, I may provide follow-up support to help ensure that the changes implemented during the intervention are sustainable and produce long-term results. I can also provide additional training or coaching if needed.
